CBSE exam pattern for Class 1 to 12

According to the revised CBSE exam pattern for Class 1 to 12, the students will be assessed in two key areas including:

1. Scholastic - Includes subject enrichment, test marks, notebook upkeep, and so on.

2. Co-scholastic - Comprises all the co-curricular activities like art, music, dance, skill-based activities and physical education.

There are two kind of assessment:

A. Formative Assessments (FA) - Formative Assessments are an informal way to track students’ progress in academics regularly through class tests, assignments, visual testing, oral testing, quizzes, homework and projects.

B. Summative Assessments (SA) - Summative Assessments (SA) are the pen and paper-based final assessment of students’ performance that’s conducted twice every year at the end of each term by the schools.

 

CBSE grading system for Class 1 to 12

According to CBSE, for Classes 1 to 12, all the internal and external assessments will be done in marks but the overall results will be converted into grades that are reflected in the final report cards of the students. The grades are given on a 5 point scale and are based on a student’s performance in 6 exams comprising 4 FAs and 2 SAs.
